The fifth round of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League was marked with three centuries.
Mahidul Islam and Ashok Menaria registered unbeaten hundreds to guide Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity to victory over Agrani Bank Cricket Club.
Prime Bank Cricket Club middle-order batsman Al Amin scored three digits to save the side’s innings following early dismissals but the effort was in vain as Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited bagged their third win of the season.
In the third game of the day, fifties by Afif Hossain and Towhid Hridoy helped Shinepukur Cricket Club defeat Kalabagan Krira Chakra.
Khelaghar v Agrani Bank
Mahidul and Menaria struck unbeaten 115 and 113 runs to help Khelaghar post their second win of the season as they defeated Agrani Bank by seven wickets in Fatullah’s Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium.
Batting first, with Jahid Javed’s 54 and contributions from the rest of the batsmen, newly promoted premier league team Agrani Bank put up 259 on the board losing eight wickets. Khelaghar bowlers had put up a team effort as Masum Khan, Robiul Islam and Rafsan al Mahmud took two wickets apiece.
Chasing the target, Agrani Bank pacer Shafiul Islam struck thrice to leave Khelaghar reeling on 40 for the loss of three wickets. However, the damage was magnificently recovered by Mahidul and Ashok who posted an unbroken 221-run stand for the fourth wicket to take Khelaghar to shore without further loss in 47.4 overs. Mahidul in his 131-ball innings struck four boundaries and six over boundaries while Menaria hammered nine fours and three sixes in his 112-ball innings.
