Tamim likely to be out for five or six weeks

Update : 26 Mar 2018, 06:16 PM
Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal is likely to be out of action for the next five or six weeks. The left-handed batsman had travelled to Bangkok for medical checkup on his troubled left knee. An official statement on Tamim’s condition is yet to come from the BCB. The reports in Bangkok suggested Tamim should take at least five weeks to recover from the injury that has reappeared. The injury however, will not cause worries in the Bangladesh dressing room, given that the Tigers do not have any international commitment in the next two months. The injury ruled him out from the final of the Pakistan Super League T20 2018 where he was set to appear for Peshawar Zalmi against Islamabad United Sunday. Tamim had complained of pain in the left ankle and left Lahore for Thailand after playing the first eliminator against Quetta Gladiators Tuesday. Chief BCB physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury informed Dhaka Tribune that Tamim underwent MRI in Bangkok and the report has been sent to Australia to orthopedic surgeon Dr David Young for further study. In 2014, Dr Young conducted surgery on Tamim on his left knee and that particular injury has reappeared.
