
BCB North Zone posted 204 runs losing five wickets in 65 overs against Islami Bank East Zone in the rain-affected day one of round five in the Bangladesh Cricket League at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Tuesday.
In the other match of the day, Walton Central Zone scored 154 for the loss of two wickets in 35 overs after bowling out Prime Bank South Zone for 191 in 49.5 overs at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Cricket Stadium in Rajshahi.
North Zone v East Zone
East Zone captain Mominul Haque elected to field first and North Zone made a cautious start as the opening partnership was broken in 12.4 overs when opener Junaid Siddique got out after scoring seven. The other opener Mizanur Rahman scored 46 off 74 balls before getting dismissed by off-spinner Sohag Gazi. No 3 batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanto was the top-scorer on the day as the in-form left-hander scored 73 off 109 balls with 11 boundaries. North Zone eventually registered 204 as rain affected the remainder of the day’s play. Spinner Mohammad Ashraful and Gazi took two wickets each for East Zone.
South Zone v Central Zone
South Zone lost regular wickets and were bundled out for 191 after Central Zone elected to field first. Opener Fazle Mahmud was the top-scorer for his side with 40 while captain Nurul Hasan made 28. No 3 batsman Imrul Kayes scored 26 while opener Anamul Haque made 23 but none of them were able to build a long partnership. Central Zone pacer Ebadat Hossain took four wickets conceding 32 runs while spinner Mosharraf Hossain also bagged four wickets giving away 57 runs.
In reply, Central Zone finished day one on 154/2 with opener Shadman Islam batting on 66 and No 4 batsman Marshal Ayub was the other unbeaten batsman on 14.
