Bangladesh rise to No 8 in ICC Test ranking
Bangladesh Tuesday rose to No 8 in the ICC Test ranking for the first time, leapfrogging the West Indies. The Tigers now have 75 rating points, eight more than the Windies, who are ninth. Bangladesh last played a Test series against Sri Lanka earlier in January-February this year at home. India continue to lead the ranking with 125 rating points, ahead of South Africa (112) and Australia (106), who are second and third respectively. New Zealand (102), England (98) and Sri Lanka (94) are fourth, fifth and sixth accordingly while Pakistan are just 11 rating points ahead of Bangladesh at seventh place. Zimbabwe are at the bottom of the ranking with only two rating points. By the time the next annual update comes in, Afghanistan and Ireland will have joined the existing 10 teams to make a it a 12-team table.
