Opening batsman Soumya Sarkar finally got back among the runs as Bangladesh A beat Ireland A by four wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20 series in Dublin, Ireland Monday. Soumya has been going through a lean patch recently but he finally struck a fifty to propel Bangladesh A to victory.
Chasing 153 runs, the visiting side reached their destination in 18 overs, riding on Soumya’s 41-ball 57, featuring five fours and three sixes. No 3 batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanto and youngster Afif Hossain chipped in with 38 and 35 not out respectively.
Ireland A’s Andy McBrine and Peter Chase bagged three and two wickets respectively.

Earlier, Ireland A, batting first, posted 152 before being dismissed in their stipulated 20 overs. Middle-order batsman Simi Singh top-scored for his side with 41.
Bangladesh A seamers Shariful Islam and Saifuddin and spinner Taijul Islam notched two wickets respectively.
The two teams will take on each other Wednesday in the second and penultimate T20 at the same venue. Bangladesh A and Ireland A earlier played out a 2-2 draw in the five-game one-day series.
