The tournament committee of the six-nation Asia Cup was in hot water after revealing a changed schedule of the tournament Wednesday.

BCB president Nazmul Hasan’s statement over the change in the Asia Cup schedule during the tournament has created confusion and contradiction.

According to the BCB boss, the board has asked for an explanation for the sudden change in the fixture but at the same time, he also said the decision had come following discussion with all the participating teams.

The BCB had immediately asked for an explanation from the ACC on the issue and had also said it will be raised in the next ACC board meeting.

But Nazmul’s statement- “all teams were aware of the change” - has given a new twist to the matter.

“We have asked in written to ACC the reason behind the change. There is no issue but we will be playing the next game,” said Nazmul to the media at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

“We would have needed to learn where we will play our next game (after the Afghanistan game). So it has been good now that we got to know the schedule earlier and this has been done with everyone’s consent. It was done to avoid different complications in the tournament. The decision had come after four teams for the Super Four stage got confirmed,” the BCB chief added.

The tournament committee of the six-nation Asia Cup was in hot water after revealing a changed schedule of the tournament Wednesday.

India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan having already qualified for the Super Four stage round ahead of the finish of the group matches, the ACC took the advantage and tweaked the schedule in order to meet India’s demand of not playing any game in Abu Dhabi.

The tournament committee ruled out the group champion and runners-up format during the tournament, taking everyone by surprise.

The media took a lash at the ACC for the change in fixture in between an international tournament while the captains in the shape of Bangladesh’s Mashrafe bin Mortaza and Pakistan’s Sarfraz Ahmed also raised their voice
