Pacer Taskin Ahmed has returned home from the Afghanistan Premier League T20 to attend to his ailing wife in Dhaka.
The right-arm pacer returned to Dhaka Thursday as his wife’s health deteriorated.
Taskin’s wife Syeda Rabeya gave birth to their first child two days before the cricketer left for the UAE to participate in the maiden edition of the APL T20 earlier this month.
Taskin was roped in by Kandahar Knights and was available for the first two matches of tournament.
The Bangladesh pacer however, had to sit out both the matches.
Taskin was the only Bangladeshi to participate in the five-team tournament.

“His (Taskin) wife fell sick all of a sudden and was admitted to the hospital for a night. The family had decided not to inform Taskin about it but he knew about it somehow and came back home. The team wanted him to stay back for the tournament if possible but he was not in the right state of mind to stay any further,” informed Taskin’s father Abdur Rashid to Dhaka Tribune Thursday.
Opener Tamim Iqbal and wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim had got teams in the players’ draft but the duo could not join the tournament due to their respective injuries.
Later, opening batsman Soumya Sarkar and stumper-batsman Mohammad Mithun got selected by Kandahar but were denied NOC by the BCB.
