The first edition of the UAE T20X League is scheduled to take place in December this year, and Shakib al Hasan in his NOC request has asked for a leave from December 23-January 1

The BCB is in discussion as to whether all-rounder Shakib al Hasan should be given the No Objection Certificate to participate in the maiden edition of the UAE T20X to be held in December this year.

BCB director and chairman of media and communications committee Jalal Younus informed that the board has a set of plans to prepare a selected pool of national cricketers for the 2019 World Cup.

The instruction from the BCB president Nazmul Hasan to the cricket operations committee was driven from the intention to keep the cricketers 100% fit ahead of the world event, and make them available only for international and domestic series.

The first edition of the UAE T20X League is scheduled to take place in December this year, and Shakib in his NOC request has asked for a leave from December 23-January 1.

“He has applied for the NOC and the board is yet to make a decision on it. BCB is very much concerned about the fitness of the players, especially the key players. Keeping the World Cup in focus and given the fact that Bangladesh have lots of bilateral series and domestic tournaments in the shape of the BPL and the Dhaka League, we want the shortlisted players (a pool of 25) to remain fully fit and ensure they are not strained,” said Jalal to Dhaka Tribune Monday.

It is understood that the BCB in order to meet its intention is likely to bar all the cricketers from playing in foreign leagues, at least till the World Cup, scheduled to begin in May 2019 in England and Wales.

Bangladesh started the long and packed season with the Zimbabwe series at home Sunday.

This will be followed by the home series against the West Indies in November-December.

The sixth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League T20 will be held in January-February following which the Tigers will travel to New Zealand.

This will be followed by tour of Ireland in April, and eventually the World Cup in England.

Shakib’s intention of acquiring an NOC to participate in a foreign league has alarmed many in the cricketing arena.

The Bangladesh Test and T20I captain is still recovering from a finger injury, which, according to reports earlier this month had put his availability for the World Cup in jeopardy.

Shakib had picked up the injury on his left little finger in January this year, and has been nursing it since.

The injury took a turn for the worse after it was hit with severe infection in between the Asia Cup in the UAE.

Shakib was subsequently ruled out from the tournament at a crucial point.

The left-arm all-rounder underwent a surgery in Dhaka to extract the pus, and later travelled to Australia for further treatment.

Shakib returned home earlier this month and hinted that he might return through Bangladesh’s home series against the Windies this year.

He later brushed off all speculation with regards to long term recovery time.

The BCB earlier this month denied NOCs to batsmen Mohammad Mithun and Soumya Sarkar to participate in the Afghanistan Premier League T20, which concluded Sunday.

Right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed was the only Bangladesh player to fly to the UAE for the tournament, but he had returned without playing a game due to family emergency.
