Tamim back in batting practice

Tamim Iqbal might be available for the Windies series depending on his recovery process

Update : 04 Nov 2018, 11:49 PM

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal started light batting practice session Sunday in his road to recovery of his wrist injury. The left-handed opener took part in a batting session in Mirpur. Later, Tamim wrote on his official facebook account regarding his practice session.

“One step at a time. My recovery has been ongoing but getting the bat in hand makes me happy. Batted for the first time since injury. Keep me in your prayers. Hope to be back soon for Bangladesh InShaaAllah”, Tamim said on his social media page.

Tamim picked up the injury during their Asia Cup opener on September this year against Sri Lanka while playing a short-pitched delivery against seamer Suranga Lakmal. Later that month, Tamim flew to London for the treatment of his injured left index finger.

He went to Southampton to find out if surgery is required on his injured hand. After assessing his injured hand, the doctor informed that no surgery is required at the moment. Following assessment of the situation, the BCB medical team stated that Tamim needs seven to eight weeks for full recovery.

Bangladesh are currently playing the two-match Test series against Zimbabwe and it is highly unlikely that Tamim will be selected for the second and final game that starts Sunday. The Tigers will play their next series against the West Indies, starting on November 22. Tamim might be available for the Windies series depending on his recovery process.
