From 222 for 3, Bangladesh were reduced to 235 for seven
Bangladesh were dominating the day’s play with Mominul Haque’s century, until the tea session. But just after tea, West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite brought back one of their premier bowlers Shannon Gabriel to the attack and the right-arm pacer wreaked havoc on the Bangladesh batting.
Gabriel took the wickets of Mominul (120), Mushfiqur Rahim (four), Mahmudullah (three) and Shakib al Hasan (34) and suddenly from 222 for 3, Bangladesh were reduced to 235 for seven. Mominul edged to the keeper, Mushfiq was trapped in front, while Mahmudullah and Shakib’s defences were shattered.
The Tigers’ middle order had no answer against Gabriel’s raw and genuine fast bowling and accuracy. The tall fast bowler’s spell read 4/19 in four overs. A real game changing bowling effort from the big man Gabriel whose average speed throughout the day was just below 145.
