After winning the first Test match by 64 runs, skipper Shakib al Hasan acknowledged the efforts of the young spinner, and termed him as a brave bowler
Bangladesh Test captain Shakib al Hasan has praised young debutant off-spinner Nayeem Hasan after his impressive performance.
The 17-year old took five wickets in the first innings against the West Indies at his home ground, Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
The tall spinner used his high-arm action pretty well, and bowled with big turn to pick up a five-for.

And thus he created a world record as the 17-year old (official age was 17 years 355 days at time of record) became the youngest cricketer in the history of Tests to take five wickets on debut.
He broke the record of Australia’s Pat Cummins, who took five wickets on debut against South Africa in 2011 at the age of 18 years and 193 days.
And after winning the first Test match by 64 runs, skipper Shakib acknowledged the efforts of the young spinner, and termed him as a brave bowler.

Shakib also admitted that the youngster need to learn a lot of things in the coming days in international cricket and believes he will be a bright prospect for Bangladesh.
“I think Nayeem bowled exceptionally well as a debutant bowler. [Friday’s] wicket had less turn than [Saturday]. But Nayeem bowled brilliantly [Friday]. I believe he has a bright future for Bangladesh,” Shakib said during the post-match press conference Saturday.
“He has to learn a lot of things from now on in international cricket. And he will learn by getting more match-time. The best thing I have noticed in him is that he is brave,” he added.
The second and final Test of the series will start Friday at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
