Opening batsman Tamim Iqbal’s aim to return to action for the national team through the second and final Test match against the West Indies has been marred.
The left-handed batsman currently dealing with a side strain injury following a medical checkup Sunday has been advised to do limited movement.
What’s more, he has been barred from batting.
As per the report, Tamim has swelling in the injured area, and the cricketer has also complained of pain.
To avoid risks, Tamim has not been named in the squad for the second Test against the Caribbean side which begins at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Friday.

According to the BCB medical team, Tamim has been permitted to do running sessions, and can only get to batting sessions following a week’s rest.
BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan informed that enough efforts were made to get Bangladesh’s prominent opening batsman back to the team through the second Test but, “Team physio (Thihan Chandramohan), the medical team, and in fact Tamim himself tried best to recover ahead of the game. But still, there are always some parts which depend on luck.”
Tamim said he is now eyeing the three-match ODI series against the Windies.
The first game will be held on December 9 in Mirpur.
However, to understand his recovery, the star batsman will be part of the lone 50-over tour-game to be played at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium Fatullah on December 6.

“I will start batting after a few days. I want to fully recover before the ODI series and play the one-day warm-up game as part of my preparation,” said Tamim to the media.
Tamim has been dealing with injury since the Asia Cup in the UAE in September this year.
The southpaw sustained a fractured finger in the opening game of the six-nation tournament.
Having recovered well and missed the home series against Zimbabwe, Tamim eyed a comeback through the first Test against the West Indies, but was denied by a side strain picked up during a practice session.
