Bangladesh U-23 team safely reach Pakistan

The wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan led-side, which has as many as six national cricketers, had their first practice session at the National Stadium after arriving in Karachi on Tuesday

The Bangladesh U23 Cricket Team, which is touring Pakistan for the their Group B matches of the ACC Emerging Teams Cup 2018 matches, reached Karachi on Tuesday morning following a 13-hour travel from Dhaka.

The wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul Hasan led-side, which has as many as six national cricketers, had their first practice session at the National Stadium after arriving in Karachi on Tuesday.

“We had a light practice session at the national stadium given we had travelled and only reached Karachi in the morning. Our opening game in the tournament is against UAE on Thursday and we are looking forward to it,” said Nurul to Dhaka Tribune over phone on Tuesday.

Bangladesh U23 team, which consists of Bangladesh national cricketers in Nurul, Mosaddek Hossain, Shafiul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Khaled Ahmed, is the second team under BCB that is touring Pakistan. Earlier Bangladesh national women’s team had toured the violence-hit Pakistan in 2015.

According to team sources the team is highly guarded at the hotel and during their journey to and from the stadium. The players are not allowed to leave the team hotel and to ease off their meal options, the hotel is providing the team members discounts up to 20 to 25 percent.

Bangladesh U23 B will have to compete against co-host Pakistan, Hong Kong and UAE in Group. The Group A matches between Sri Lanka U23, Afghanistan U23, India U23 and Oman are to be played in Sri Lanka.

The semifinal and the final matches will be played in Sri Lanka.
