Rony, Ashraful tons power East Zone ahead

Rony Talukdar and Mohammad Ashraful scored centuries for Islami Bank East Zone to power their side ahead against BCB North Zone, as the former posted 354/3 after day one in the fourth round of the Bangladesh Cricket League. 

In the other match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium in Chittagong, a spirited bowling performance from Prime Bank South Zone kept Walton Central Zone to 234/8. 

East Zone v North Zone

The day started well for North Zone as Sadiqur Rahman was dismissed for zero after having his stumps rattled by fast bowler Imran Ali at Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi.

From there, Mominul Haque took the score to 41 before he was removed, stumped by Dhiman Ghosh off the bowling of Sohag Gazi for 26. 

A decent partnership was then formed by Mahmudul Hasan and Rony before Mahmudul was dismissed by Sanjamul Islam for 29 with the score on 113.

A massive 241-run partnership was then stitched together by Ashraful and Rony as they scored their 20th and 10th first-class centuries respectively. 

Ashraful remained not out on 107 in an innings consisting 13 boundaries while Rony remained unbeaten on 183 with 19 fours and five sixes in an attacking innings with a strike rate of almost 76.
