Rajshahi successfully chased down the target with seven balls to spare after Khulna fielders displayed yet another dismal show following a poor batting performance.

Khulna Titans’ woes continued in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League’s sixth edition as they lost their third match of the tournament in as many games against Rajshahi Kings by seven wickets at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla national stadium.

Rajshahi successfully chased down the target with seven balls to spare after Khulna fielders displayed yet another dismal show following a poor batting performance.

Khulna spinner Taijul Islam got rid of Rajshahi opner Mohammad Hafeez early but another opener Mominul Haque and captain Mehedi Hasan Miraz steadied the chase with a composed partnership.

Miraz, who promoted himself ahead of Soumya Sarker, led from the front as their 91-run stand almost set the match.

Mominul scored 44 off 43 balls with four boundaries and lost his wicket to spinner Paul Stirling. But Miraz scored a well constructed fifty as he made 51 off 45 balls with six boundaries and one six.

Soumya was unbeaten on 11 and hit the winning boundary to complete the run-chase.

Earlier, Khulna started well as their openers Paul Stirling and Junaid Siddique made a 40-run opening partnership.  Striling got out for 16 off 14 before Khulna lost Junaid (23) and Jahurul Islam (one) in quick succession and squandered the good start.

Captain Mahmudullaah, normally the most dependable, also failed to resurrect the innings as Mustafizur Rahman trapped him in front in the 11th over for just 11 to put Khulna in further trouble.

Dawid Malan (22), David Wiese (14) and Ariful Haque (12) scored some runs but that was never enough to challenge the opponents as Khulna managed to score only 117 runs in their stipulated 20 overs losing nine wickets.

Rajshahi’s Sri Lankan pacer Isuru Udana picked three wickets and was adjudged man-of-the-match.
