Nursing a sore elbow, David Warner will leave here Sunday after the Sylhet Sixers’ match against Rangpur Riders Saturday
Left-handed batsman David Warner will fly back to Australia for medical checkup following the Sylhet phase of the BPL, confirmed the Sylhet Sixers in a press release Thursday night.
The Sixers said English opening batsman Jason Roy will come in as Warner’s replacement.

In the media release, Warner said, “Pain was there before. Fluid has accumulated inside my elbow. I have taken painkillers, but swelling in elbow isn’t decreasing. That’s why I’m returning home on advice from Cricket Australia. The doctor there will decide whether I’d need surgery. Spent a wonderful time here at the BPL. I will return home after gathering some beautiful memories from the team and the franchise. But I want to put in memorable performances for Sylhet in the last two matches.”
Including Friday’s game against Dhaka Dynamites in Sylhet, Warner has played six matches in BPL 6, scoring 204 runs at an average of 40.8.
