Defending champion Abahani Limited secured a massive 189-run win over newcomer Uttara Sporting Club in their Dhaka Premier League match at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Cricket Stadium in Fatullah Monday.
Winning the toss, Uttara decided to put Abahani in to bat first and initially took the first wicket when the score was on 22.
From there, opener Jahurul Islam (45) and Nazmul Hosain Shanto took the score past 100 before Jahurul departed.
Captain Mosaddek Hossain (64) then formed another big partnership with Shanto to take the total past the 200-mark before the latter was run out for 83.
Abahani Limited won by 189 runs.

It was then down to in-form batsman Sabbir Rahman to blast a 35-ball 61 to provide the late-over fireworks and take the total to 285/6 in 50 overs.
In reply, Abahani bowled with fire to have Uttara bowled out for just 96 in 33 overs.
Rubel Hossain was especially impressive taking 3/16 in five overs while Ariful Hasan and Sabbir took two apiece.
