Bangladesh cricket team had an optional training session Friday at the YMCA cricket ground, Sandymount in Dublin.

Five players enjoyed a day off from the practice as captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza, vice captain Shakib al Hasan, opener Soumya Sarkar and all-rounders Mahmudullah and Saifuddin took rest.

Bangladesh began their tri-nation ODI series campaign with a convincing eight-wicket win against the West Indies in Dublin Tuesday.

A confident Bangladesh then had to be satisfied with a share of points as their match against host Ireland was washed out due to rain and wet outfield in Dublin Thursday.

Bangladesh now have six points and lead the points table after two matches.

The Tigers' next game is against the Windies at Malahide Cricket Club ground Monday.

And ahead of their upcoming game, opening batsman Tamim Iqbal was confident that they would continue their winning run.

“The most important thing is that we have started the tournament well, if you leave out the practice match. We are in a good mental state in this moment. We have won a match, and unfortunately the second one was washed out. Now we have a few days off, and we will be freshened up for the third match,” said Tamim to the media in Dublin.

Tamim, who made a fine 80 off 116 balls, studded with seven fours, to give the Tigers a solid platform in their chase against the Windies, said it was important to execute their plans in the middle in order to achieve success.

“There is only one challenge. You have to perform well. I always say one thing, you can plan a lot of things, but what matters is how you execute those plans in the middle. If our execution is good when we bat, bowl or field, then it will work for us. If we do not execute, nothing will matter,” informed Tamim.

Against the Windies, Tamim was out in the 80s for the 18th time in his career and the southpaw rued his latest dismissal, saying he wanted to finish the job and guide his team home to victory.

“Obviously there are regrets. Out of those 18 occasions, I was probably dismissed 15 times due to my mistakes. I wanted to do something that wasn’t required. But at times, there were also misfortune. For instance, the last game, I played the necessary shot, but it went straight to the fielder. He [Jason Holder] took a good catch. In these cases, I don’t have regrets. More than scoring a century, my regret is not being able to take my side to a win,” said Tamim.

“Maybe I’ll regret it at the end of my career, when I look back. Maybe if I had converted half of my scores from 80 to a century, my career would have looked good. But whatever has happened is in the past now. There is no point in regretting. I hope I capitalize on the opportunity in future when I have the chance. It is another matter if I get dismissed off a good delivery, or get out by playing a good shot. But I don’t want to throw it away,” he added.

The left-handed batsman also praised the facilities provided by Cricket Ireland, saying the practice wickets have been a breath of fresh air.

“Yes, it’s good. Usually the practice wickets are not very good in terms of facilities, but [Friday] the wicket was surprisingly very good. We are trying to prepare ourselves as much as possible from this session. We have a day off [Saturday], so [Friday’s] session was very important, at least for me,” Tamim concluded.
