Bangladesh cricket team took part in an optional practice session at the County Ground, Grace Road in Leicester Wednesday.

The weather was perfect for the Tigers as it was sunny and comfortable in Leicester, and the players sweated it out while honing on their skills.

Bangladesh team came to Leicester Saturday, a day after winning the tri-nation ODI series final in Ireland. They had optional practice sessions Sunday and Monday before taking a day off from practice Tuesday to restore their energy.

Players appeared to be in good mood and the silverware from Ireland must have boosted their confidence.

Among the 15-man squad, opener Tamim Iqbal and skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza did not come to Leicester. They will join the team in Cardiff Friday when Bangladesh's campaign for the World Cup 2019 in England and Wales officially begins.

The training session started with an usual warm-up session and fielding drill at 10am local time.

Among the other 13 members, only Soumya Sarkar did not bat during training Wednesday. All the other batsmen including Liton Kumar Das, Shakib al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Sabbir Rahman and Mahmudullah spent plenty of time in the net session.

Shakib, who was injured and was not able to play in the tri-series final, looked fit and took part in warm-up, fielding and batting sessions.

Among the bowlers, pacers Rubel Hossain, Abu Jayed Rahi and Mustafizur Rahman bowled in the nets. From the spin department, Shakib did not bowl in the nets as he was suffering from back spasm.

And Mahmudullah also did not chance his arm as he has not been bowling for months while recovering from his shoulder injury.

“It’s been an optional training camp. We’ve not had all the players here. But that’s on the basis of we’ve had some good stuff in Ireland, we’re very pleased with the results there. [Yesterday’s] been a good, hard-working session, just getting ourselves ready for what’s coming up. Once we travel down to Cardiff [today] we’ve got a couple of practice games and practice sessions and we really look forward to the start of the contest. I shouldn’t have called it that because how can you call games against India and Pakistan practice games? For us, they’re games we want to win and play well in,” said Bangladesh head coach Steve Rhodes after the training session at Leicestershire County Cricket Club Wednesday.

Bangladesh will travel to Cardiff Thursday before starting their practice session Friday.

The Tigers will play two warm-up games against India and Pakistan Sunday and Tuesday respectively at Sophia Garden Stadium in Cardiff  before playing their first World Cup match against South Africa on June 2 at The Oval.
