Young pacer Ruyel Miah’s outstanding 13-wicket haul helped Sylhet Division beat Chittagong Division in two days Sunday, ensuring Sylhet’s promotion to tier-1 of the National Cricket League.
In tier-1, Khulna Division are in position to clinch the league title, while Rangpur are in danger of being relegated to tier-2.
Sylhet Division v Chittagong Division
Ruyel, who had returned with the best figures by a Bangladeshi pacer by picking up eight wickets in the first innings, picked up five more in Chittagong’s second innings to help his side win by nine wickets at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra.
In reply to Chittagong’s 106, Sylhet resumed the day on 186/5 before being bundled out for 230 runs. Irfan Hossain of Chittagong ended with impressive figures of 6/90.
Trailing by 124 runs, Chittagong were looking to fight back with half centuries from Sadikur Rahman and Irfan Sukkur, before Ruyel once again wreaked havoc among the batting order. The pacer picked up 5 wickets while conceding only 39 runs, as Chittagong were bowled out for 165.
Sylhet reached the paltry target of 42 in just six overs, confirming their position on top of tier-2.

Khulna Division v Dhaka Division
Khulna bowlers wrapped up Dhaka’s innings quickly in the morning, with the latter dismissed for 279 after resuming on 273/7 at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
In reply, Khulna, who require a draw along with a first-innings lead to clinch the title, proceeded with caution to finish the day on 252/3, trailing by just 27 runs.
Experienced batsman Tushar Imran (75) and Nasir Hossain (56) were unbeaten at the crease at the close of the day’s play. The unbroken 121-run stand by the pair ensured that Khulna maintained control, after openers Robiul Islam Robi (45) and Anamul Haque (50) had given the team a strong start.
Rajshahi Division v Rangpur Division
Rajshahi captain Farhad Hossain played a crucial knock of 75 and opener Avishek Mitra scored 67 to help their side reach 224/5 at stumps at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Earlier in the day, Rangpur were bundled out for 274 after resuming on 263/8.

Barisal Division v Dhaka Metropolis
At Barisal Divisional Stadium, the batsmen are shining for both sides. Metro ended the day on 225/2, with Shamsur Rahman (90) and Marshall Ayub (85) unbeaten at the crease, while Barisal finished their first innings with 414 after resuming on 338/6.
