Left-arm pace bowler Qazi Anik is set to receive a ban for failing a dope test during the National Cricket League this year, Chief of the national selection panel and NCL technical committee head Minhajul Abedin has said.
“The medical team has informed us that he tested positive in a dope test during the National League, and for that reason we decided not to include him in the further part of NCL. We also decided not to include his name in the BBPL players’ draft,” Minhajul told the media Sunday.
“However, we are still waiting for the full report from the medical committee and will only take a final decision after receiving it. He was part of some of our programs, but now we have decided not to include him in our structure until we get the full report from the medical team,” the national chief selector added.

As per the regulations of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), any cricketer who tests positive in a dope test shall be banned for two to five years.
Anik had emerged as a bright pace-bowling prospect with his performance for the Bangladesh U19 team in the last edition of ICC Under-19 World Cup held in New Zealand.
