Gayle will be available only for the last leg of the tournament, the left-handed batsman is currently recovering from a hamstring injury
West Indian hard hitter Chris Gayle is set to be available for Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League T20 side Chattogram Challengers.
Following significant confusion, the BBPL team has been able to confirm the services of the Windies batsman for the tournament, set to start on December 11.
However, Gayle will be available only for the last leg of the tournament. The left-handed batsman is currently recovering from a hamstring injury.
“There is no doubt about his participation in the BBPL for Chattogram Challengers. He is recovering from a hamstring injury at the moment, and will take time to recover. He will be available for us for the later part of the tournament,” said Chattogram Challengers Managing Director KM Rifatuzzaman through a media release Monday.
The media in Bangladesh was in a stir last month, after Gayle had said he would be taking rest from in the coming months and would not be available for BPL 2019-20. He made the comments during a press conference in the South African T20 Mzansi Super League
The Windies cricketer had also mentioned that he was unaware that he was participating in the special edition of the BPL T20, and also that he does not know how his name was included in the tournament’s player draft held on November 17.
