The Chattogram Challengers Saturday condemned Khulna Tigers to their second successive defeat in the Sylhet phase of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20.

After winning the toss at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Challengers captain Imrul Kayes elected to field first.

The bowlers near immediately justified the decision, as Khulna struggled with uneven bounce on the slow pitch and were scuttled for 121 in 19.5 overs.

Experienced South African batsman Hashim Amla was included in the Khulna playing XI, but made little impact on the innings.

Opening the innings with Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Amla only managed to score eight off six deliveries before getting bowled out by tournament revelation Mehedi Hasan Rana.

Challengers pacer Rana continued his impressive form, picking up three wickets and conceding 29 runs.

The wickets mean Rana is back on top of the BBPL wicket-takers’ list with 17, while Rangpur Rangers pacer Mustafizur Rahman is in second place with 16 wickets.

Chattogram’s more experienced pacer Rubel Hossain also bowled well against Khulna, picking up three wickets and leaking just 17 runs.

Chasing 122, Challengers openers Lendl Simmons and Junaid Siddique did half the job on their own.

The two formed a steady 69-run stand, with Simmons ending with 36 and Junaid 38.

Chattogram lost four wickets, but No 3 batsman and skipper Imrul Kayes guided them to victory with an unbeaten 30.
