Tamim became the 39th player to cross the 6000-run mark in recognized T20 matches
Tamim Iqbal has become the first Bangladeshi batsman to cross 6000 runs milestone in T20 cricket. The national team opener reached the milestone when he was featuring for Fortune Barishal during their Bangabandhu T20 Cup encounter against Beximco Dhaka at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Wednesday.
The left-handed batsman, who needed 212 innings to achieve the feat, needed 27 to reach the figure and he made run-a-ball 31 in the losing cause for his side. Barishal could post only 108 runs which was easily chased down by Dhaka losing just three wickets.
Tamim became the 39th player to cross the 6000-run mark in recognized T20 matches, Chris Gayle of West Indies top the list with 13584 runs till date.
All-rounder Shakib al Hasan is second in the list of highest T20 run scorer for Bangladeshi with 5011 runs from 285 innings. Shakib crossed his 5000-run milestone during his last game while playing for Gemcon Khulna.
Wicketkeeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim is third in the list with 4101 runs from 181 innings while Mahmudullah is in fourth with 3,943 in 198 innings.
