Fortune Barsihal pacer Abu Jayed has been ruled out for the rest of the ongoing Bangabandhu T20 Cup due to first-degree tear in the rectus femoris muscle on his left leg.
Jayed picked the injury during their match against Minister Group Rajshahi at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.
The paceman was running up to bowl a delivery when he fell on the ground in extreme pain and was stretchered off the pitch.
The right-arm seamer was initially taken to the BCB medical room for assessment and was understood the trouble was a simple muscle cramp. The news however, got worse for the 27-year-old on Wednesday after Barishal team physiotherapist Joy Biswas revealed that the cricketer had a muscle tear.
“Abu Jayed Chowdhury Rahi got injured in yesterday's match and after physically examining his left quadriceps muscle, it looks like he has a first-degree tear in the rectus femoris muscle. "It will take at least fifteen days for him to get back to cricket,” said Biswas in a statement to the media on Wednesday.
Abu Jayed in his five matches for Fortune Barishal took three wickets with an economy of 7.80.
