Bangladesh's Shakib al Hasan celebrates one of his four wickets during the first ODI against the West indies in Mirpur Wednesday BCB

ODI skipper Tamim made a winning start to his long-term captaincy tenure as he top-scored with 44 to help his side to the destination in 33.5 overs

Premier Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan showed his class with the ball in his return to international cricket as the Tigers brushed off the 10-month long break due to the Covid-19 pandemic with a six-wicket win in the first of three ODIs against the West Indies, at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Wednesday.

ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal also made a winning start to his long-term captaincy tenure as he top-scored with 44 to help his side to the destination in 33.5 overs.

Player of the match Shakib earlier marked his return by taking a brilliant 4/8 in 7.2 overs, while young gun Hasan Mahmud also impressed scalping three wickets on debut, alongside the dependable Mustafizur Rahman (2/20), as the Windies were all out for just 122 in 32.2 overs.

Tamim had won the toss and elected to bowl amid overcast conditions.
