Bangladesh off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz has been lifted to fourth position with 694 points at the latest ICC ODI bowlers ranking while his fellow pacer Mustafizur Rahman is sitting at eighth with 658 points.

Miraz has taken seven wickets in three innings against West Indies during the ODI series which Bangladesh won 3-0 earlier this week.

“Obviously it feels good. I never thought I would in the top 5 bowlers in the ODI ranking. I am happy,” said Miraz to the media on Wednesday.

“I started my international career in Test cricket. But since then I had an aim to play white ball cricket as well. Then I thought how I can improve my bowling and skills for ODI cricket and later I worked on those. I have to bowl economically in ODI cricket and should also bring breakthrough for the team whenever needed. So I have worked to improve these skills and in the recent ODI series we have performed well as a team,” he added.

Miraz also praised Mustafiz as the left-arm seamer is also in the top ten of the rankings. Mustafiz was also impressive in the series where he picked six wickets.

“It’s a good sign for us that Mustafiz is also in the top ten. We all know he is a world class bowler. Mustafiz bowled really well in the last series. As a result he is in the top ten. It was needed for him as it will boost his confidence more to get back to his rhythm fully,” Miraz said about his teammate.

New Zealand pacer Trent Boult is leading the chart of ICC ODI bowlers ranking with 722 rating points.

Meanwhile, ace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan is holding the top position in ODI all-rounders ranking with 420 points. Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi is in second position with 294 points.
