Tamim thanks PM for countrywide free vaccine

 Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for successfully arranging Covid-19 vaccine for the people of the country and also acknowledged the authority for successfully running the campaign.

Tamim while speaking to the media in New Zealand on Wednesday cited Covid-19 vaccine as the future and that everyone will have to take the shield in order to fight the deadly virus. The Bangladesh cricketers took the first dose of the vaccine before leaving for New Zealand on February 24 and are set to take the second dose after they return from the tour. 

“This (Covid-19 vaccine) is the future. Everyone has to take it at some point. Bangladesh has done a brilliant job in getting the vaccine to its people. Our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina played the leading role and has managed this brilliantly,” said Tamim.

 “We are lucky as a nation. It was not only the cricketers that got the vaccine but everyone and the best part of it is it is being provided for free. We should be proud as a nation. I am sure the other countries will also follow the path and will get the people vaccinated. I have taken my first dose and it was all fine. The management of getting people vaccinated has been brilliant so far,” the left-handed batsman added.

Bangladesh national cricket team on Wednesday completed their 14-day long mandatory quarantine in Christchurch and travelled to Queenstown for a five-day long camp. Bangladesh in the tour will play three ODIs and as many T20Is against hosts New Zealand. The series will begin on March 20 at Dunedin with the first ODI of the series.
