NZ win by five wickets, clinch series against Tigers

Earlier, Bangladesh have scored 271 runs losing six wickets in their stipulated 50 overs

Hosts New Zealand have won the second match of the three match ODI series by five wickets while chasing a 272 run target against Bangladesh at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Tuesday.

Kiwis skipper Tom Latham played an unbeaten 110 run innings to guide them in to victory with 10 balls to spare.

Left arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman gave Bangladesh first breakthrough in the last ball of fifth over by taking the wicket of opener Martin Guptil. Then spinner Mahedi Hasan bowled other opener Henry Nichols (13) in ninth over and also bowled Will Young (1) in eleventh over to put Bangladesh on top a that moment.

Then Davon Conway and Latham formed 113 run partnership in fourth wicket for the Kiwis.

Conway was run out by a direct throw from Tamim Iqbal in 34th over. Later Bangladesh fielder missed few chances particularly Mushfiqur Rahim dropped Latham when he was on 58 which proved costly for Tigers eventually.


Earlier, Bangladesh have scored 271 runs losing six wickets in their stipulated 50 overs.

Bangladesh lost opener Liton Das early as the right-hander got out in the second over scoring naught.

Skipper Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarker then formed 81 run partnership in the second wicket. Soumya scored 32 before being stumped on 21st over.

Later Tamim scored past his 50th fifty in ODI cricket. Tamim scored 78 and lost his wicket through run out while taking a quick single in 31st over.

Mohammad Mithun played a superb innings of 73 from just 57 deliveries in the later stage of the innings to help Bangladesh cross 270 run mark.

Earlier, New Zealand captain Tom Latham won the toss and elect to bowl first. 

Bangladesh made one change to their playing eleven compare to the first ODI as all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin came in replacing pacer Hasan Mahmud.
