Young batsman Shahadat Hossain on debut for Chattogram Division and senior Dhaka Metro batsman Marshall registered centuries to aid their respective teams
Shahadat Hossain, Marshall Ayub and Nasir Hossain were in the limelight with the bat on day two of round one of the ongoing Bangabandhu 22nd National Cricket League. Young batsman Shahadat Hossain on debut for Chattogram Division and senior Dhaka Metro batsman Marshall registered centuries to aid their respective teams lead in their respective games while Nasir on his comeback game remained unbeaten on 93 as his team Rangpur is struggling.
Khulna v Sylhet (Tier 1)
Sylhet trailed by 245 runs at stumps on day 2 as Khulna bowlers led by right-arm pacer Masum Khan ran havoc at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium. Khulna, who resumed with an overnight score of 308 for seven, stretched to 375 before losing all wickets. Late middle-order batsman Nahidul Islam added 48 to the innings while Sylhet pace duo Abu Jayed and Ebadat Hossain picked three wickets each. In reply, Sylhet struggled to 130 for eight as Masum picked four scalps to his belt.
Dhaka Div v Rangpur (Tier 1)
Nasir Hossain left the field with a big smile at stumps on day two staying unbeaten on 93 while his team struggled and trailed by 171 runs with three wickets remaining in the innings against Dhaka Division at BKSP, Savar.
Dhaka came out to bat in the morning with overnight score of 297 for eight and with Arafat Sunny’s unbeaten 42 the side posted 365 runs on the board before getting all-out. Pacer Alauddin Babu picked four wickets for Rangpur.
Rangpur in reply struggled, losing wickets in short intervals finishing with 194 runs for seven at the end of play. Nasir remained happy unbeaten on 93 as spinner Nazmul Islam Apu picked three wickets for Dhaka.
Chattogram v Rajshahi Div (Tier 2)
Chattogram are with a 178-run lead batting in the second innings against home side Rajshahi at Shaheed Kamaruzzaman Stadium. Proceedings on second day began with Chittagong first finishing on 287 in the first innings thanks to Shahadat Hossain’s 108 in his maiden first-class game. Farhad Reza led the Rajshahi bowling group with four wickets. With the bat Rajshahi failed in the first innings as they were bundled out for just 152 runs. Farhad’s unbeaten 27 was the highest score in Rajshahi innings as pacers Noman Chowdhury and Mehedi Hasan Rana picked four and three wickets respectively for Chattogram.
Boosted with the 104-run lead, Chattogram however could not capitalise big losing five wickets with only 43 runs on the board.
Barisal v Dhaka Metro (Tier 2)
Dhaka Metro batted the whole of the day taking their overnight score of 29 for one to 324 for 7 and lead by 83 runs at stumps on day two. Dhaka Metro captain Marshall Ayub added 112 runs to the board with 13 boundaries while Zahiduzzaman scored 60. Left-arm spinner Monir Hossain and pacer Kamrul Islam Rabbi picked a couple of wickets each for Barisal.
