Rangpur Division completed the formality of winning their second round match of the National League by a seven-wicket margin against Khulna Division while two other matches ended in draw on Thursday.
Dhaka Division kept their top position in the tier-1 of the league with 13.44 points from two matches as they drew against bottom side Sylhet Division. In tier-2 Dhaka Metro, who drew with Chittagong Division in this round, are in top with 12.18 points.
Rangpur v Khulna
At Cricket Garden, Rangpur, the hosts, who needed 117 runs to win in their second innings, resumed the day on 16/1 before finishing on 120/3 in 33.3 overs. Opener Nobin Islam was dismissed fourth ball of the day on overnight score and Rangpur lost two more wickets within 62 runs but experienced Nasir Hossain navigated the ship to shore with a 48-run innings.
National discard Nasir continued his rich vein of form as he needed just 44 balls to play that rapid innings that contained seven fours and two sixes.
Mukidul Islam, who grabbed six wickets in each of the innings, was adjudged man of the match.
Chittagong v Metro
Chittagong resumed on 43/1 in the last day and added 191 runs in just 31 overs before declaring on 234/6 to give a target of 370 runs from 50 overs. Metro saw off the overs finishing on 148-2.
At the Sheikh Kamal Cricket Stadium, Cox’s Bazar, Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored 78 and two cameos from Yasir Ali (39) and Shahadat Hossain (28) helped Chittagong set the target. Metro batsman Zahiduzzaman scored not out 61, his second fifty of the match, salvaged the draw.
Chittagong opener Pinak Ghosh was adjudged man of the match for his 159-run knock in the first innings.
Syleht v Dhaka
Dhaka Division were set a target of 310 runs in 64 overs on last day at Sheikh Kamal Cricket Stadium Academy, Cox’s Bazar but they lost opener Joyraz Sheik when the score was seven and despite Saif Hasan’s 64-89, decided to play for the draw as they ended on 147-5. Enamul Haque Junior got 3-31 for Sylhet.
Sylhet resumed on 183-6 before they were bundled out for 219.
