Sri Lanka 229/3 at stumps on day three against Bangladesh

Mushfiqur Rahim was batting on 68 when Tigers declared their innings

Sri Lanka have scored 229 runs losing three wickets from 73 overs at stumps on day three in reply to Bangladesh's 541 in first innings during their first Test at Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on Friday.

Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne was unbeaten on 85 while Dhananjaya De Silva was battting on 26 at closing on day three. The hosts are still 312 runs behind in their first innings.

Off spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz made the breakthrough for Bangladesh in the last ball of 39th over as Sri Lanka opener Lahiru Thirimanne (58) judged leg before wicket, just before the tea session.

Earlier on day three, Bangladesh have declared their innings scoring 541 losing seven wickets as Mushfiqur Rahim was batting on 68 when Tigers made the declaration.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto struck 163 and captain Mominul Haque 127 helped Bangladesh to post a commanding 474 runs for the loss of four wickets at stumps on day two.

But Bangladesh lost three wickets in early morning session on day three before declaring their innings. Liton Kumar Das scored 50 off 67 deliveries while Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam scored 3 and 2 respectively.
