A hearing was held about an incident regarding the matter at BCB on Tuesday
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) have warned Mohammedan Sporting Club and its player Shakib al Hasan regarding the breach of the bio-security environment during a practice session for the ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League Twenty20.
A hearing was held about an incident regarding the matter at BCB on Tuesday where BCB and CCDM high officials, top management and the manager of Mohammedan Sporting Club and player Shakib al Hasan were present among others.
The outcome of the hearing has been declared through a media release by BCB on Wednesday afternoon. The press release stated:
“The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) have inquired a breach of the Bio-Secure Environment (BSE) during an individual practice session of Mohammedan Sporting Club player Shakib Al Hasan on 04 June 2021.
Mohammedan officials and the player attended a hearing of the CCDM on Tuesday (08 June). The hearing was held in presence of Chairman CCDM Kazi Inam Ahmed, Head of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 Cricket League 2019-20 Technical Committee Mohammed Jalal Yunus and BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury.
The Mohammedan team management admitted that an unintended breach had occurred at training through the presence of individuals who were from outside the BSE and regretted the incident.
CCDM Chairman Kazi Inam Ahmed said, “Mohammedan Club officials have acknowledged that it was a clear mistake on their part and has assured us that such slip ups will not occur again. We have taken into consideration the circumstances and have notified the club that any future breach will result in strict disciplinary measures.
“We have also increased security vigilance so that the BSE protocol is not compromised.
“The BCB and CCDM have made extensive arrangements to ensure that BSE standards are met. Everyone should respect that for own safety and protection.”
The incident involved ace all-rounder Shakib who is leading Mohammedan in the ongoing T20 tournament.
According to media reports, the breach happened last Friday when Shakib was training in the nets at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
While batting in the nets, Shakib was accompanied by net bowlers who are not part of the bio-secured bubble.
There was also an unidentified man seen mingling with those in the nets and taking photos during the practice session.
So far, five rounds of play have been completed in the ongoing Premier League. Mohammedan will play against Legends of Rupganj at SBNS tomorrow before they face their arch rivals Abahani Limited at the same venue on Friday.
