Anamul Haque Bijoy remained unbeaten on 69 and steer Prime Bank total to 169 for five in 20 overs
Prime Bank Limited registered a massive 101-run victory over Legends of Rupganj in their Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League T-20 match while Shinepukur Cricket Club and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club won their respective matches on Friday.
Prime Bank v Rupganj
Half centuries from Anamul Haque and Rony Talukdar followed by a joint effort from the followers got Prime Bank CC a crushing win at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
Chasing 170 runs, Rupganj could get just 68 runs before getting all-out in 18 overs. Only three batsmen in the chase could score more than 10 runs with Jaker Ali’s 16 being the most courtesy to Prime Bank bowlers started getting success from the first over of the innings.
Right-arm spinner Nahidul Islam picked three wickets conceding 15 runs in four over to lead the Prime Bank attack which never allowed the opposition batsmen to settle. Right-arm pacer Rubel Hossain and spinner Nayeem Hasan bagged two wickets each.
Earlier, wicket-keeper batsman Anamul remained unbeaten on 69 and steer Prime Bank total to 169 for five in 20 overs. The side had a shaky start losing captain and opener Tamim Iqbal on 12 inside the fifth over. That however, did not derail Prime Bank as Anamul along with Rony posted 63 runs for the second wicket. Rony hammered a 31-ball 53 with five boundaries and one over boundary before getting dismissed in the 13th over. Anamul remained till the finish facing 48 deliveries laced with three boundaries and six over boundaries. Right-arm medium pacer Muktar Ali picked three wickets for Rupganj.
With the win, Prime Bank moved to the top of the league table with 12 points thanks to six wins in seven matches. Rupganj in as many matches have secured two wins and amassed five points.
Prime Doleshwar v Sheikh Jamal
Doleshawar pacer Kamrul Islam Rabbi picked up two wickets and conceding just seven runs in the 19th over to leave Sheikh Jamal requiring 11 off the last over while they were chasing 167. But the chase got easy as Sohrawardi Shuvo struck the first ball, which was called a no-ball by umpire, for four. Shuvo and his partner Tanbir Hayder dealt with singles to ensure their side wins by three wickets at BKSP Ground 4.
Winning the toss, Prime Doleshwar went to bat first and found opener Imran Uzzaman and Shamim Hossain step up for the cause. Imran played a flashy 65 off 46 involving four boundaries and as many over boundaries while Shamim remained unbeaten on 49. The young left-handed batsman had faced just 19 balls and thrashed the opposition bowlers with two boundaries and five over boundaries and guide Doleshwar to 166 runs losing five wickets.
Later, late middle order batsman Ziaur Rahman scored 53 off 33 balls during Sheikh Jamal chase while Tanbir remained unbeaten on 45 to cruise Jamal to their fourth victory of the tournament. Man of the match Ziaur in his innings found one boundary and five over boundaries.
Rabbi ended with 4-24 for Doleshwar.
Old DOHS v Shinepukur
Shinepukur got their second win of the tournament securing a seven-wicket victory against another struggling team in the competition, Old DOHS, at BKSP Ground 3.
After sent to bat first, Old DOHS posted 119 runs on the board losing six wickets in 20 overs. Mohammad Rakib remained unbeaten on 56 off 57 balls while Mahmudul Hasan Joy with his 21 was the only other batsman to score in double digits in the innings. Sumon Khan and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury bagged two wickets apiece for Shinepukur.
Chasing the target, Tanjid Hasan’s unbeaten 79 off 59 deliveries steered Shinepukur to the victory with five balls to spare in the innings. Shinepukur captain Towhid Hridoy added 28 runs to the board.
