With five wickets in the first ODI against Zimbabwe, Shakib now has 274 wickets from 213 matches under his belt, while Mashrafe has taken 269 wickets so far from 218 games

Shakib al Hasan became the highest wicket taker in one day international cricket for Bangladesh, overtaking Mashrafe bin Mortaza, when he took the wicket of Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor during their first ODI at Harare Sports Club Friday.

With five wickets in the first ODI against Zimbabwe, Shakib now has 274 wickets from 213 matches under his belt, while Mashrafe has taken 269 wickets so far from 218 games.

Mashrafe has not retired from ODI cricket yet, and last played in March 2020.

Since Mashrafe has very little chance of getting back to the ODI team, Shakib’s record will not be broken anytime soon.

Third in the list is Abdur Razzak, who took 207 wickets, and fourth is Rubel Hossain, who bagged 129 scalps.
