Nazmul speaking to the media informed completion of Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium to be the top priority
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan has set objectives that are to be achieved immediately.
Nazmul in the BCB election that was held on Wednesday jointly bagged the most votes – 53 off 57 in Club Category -and on Thursday, the newly elected directors in a meeting at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium decided to keep him in the helm, informed sources close to the board.
Nazmul speaking to the media informed completion of Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium to be the top priority.
“We had a short briefing today [Thursday] where I emphasized the works that are of priority. Number one is to get the Sheikh Hasina International Stadium up and running because we have listed this stadium as one of the venues for hosting ICC events. We will not be able to get the events without this stadium,” said Nazmul while speaking to the media at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Thursday.

Nazmul, taking charge of the BCB for the fourth consecutive time, then wants to emphasize on changing the constitution to give voting right to personnel involved in development of cricket of the country. At number three, Nazmul wants to achieve BCB’s long ambition of regional sports associations as a part of decentralization.
“Then I have asked the directors to advice on the areas that we need to change in the constitution. They will submit their observation in the next board meeting. My observation is there are so many clubs involved in cricket but majority doesn’t have the voting rights. There are many votes in the list who are not even affiliated with cricket. We need a change here. This is one of the many changes that we need to bring on,” said the BCB chief.
“Third point is, we need to establish the regional sports associations along with which comes development of the infrastructure. We have proposed possible venues for academies and for dedicated academies for age level groups specializing in batting, spin bowling and for pace bowlers. This is not for the national cricket but only for development. Apart from that we need eight to 10 fields to run cricket around the year. We need to have more cricket in coming days. The fields will be operated by the BCB,” said Nazmul.
