European transfer news: Donnarumma signs new Milan contract, Bayern sign Rodriguez on loan
AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has signed a new four-year deal, the Italian club said on their website (www.acmilan.com) on Tuesday. The 18-year-old put pen to paper on the new contract after initially rejecting an extension to his current deal, which was due to expire at the end of the coming season. The Italy international made his Under-21 debut in 2015 and was called up to the senior side in 2016, earning four caps. Donnarumma played in the European Under-21 Championship last month in Poland, where he had fake money thrown at him during the match against Denmark due to his contract standoff with Milan.  Bayern sign Rodriguez on loan from Real Madrid Bayern Munich have signed midfielder James Rodriguez from Real Madrid on a two-year loan deal, the German champions said on Tuesday. The 25-year-old Colombia international made 22 La Liga appearances for Real last season, scoring eight goals, and featured six times in the Champions League. "We are very happy to have completed this transfer," Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said in a statement. "Signing James Rodriguez was the big wish of our coach Carlo (Ancelotti) after they worked successfully together in Madrid." Rodriguez moved to Real Madrid from Monaco for a reported 60 million euros ($68.4 million) in 2014 after winning the Golden Boot as the leading scorer at the World Cup. His ability to score spectacular goals made him an ideal addition to Real's "Galacticos" project, but he struggled to nail down a regular starting place at the Bernabeu. Palace keeper Mandanda re-joins Marseille Crystal Palace's French international goalkeeper Steve Mandanda has re-joined Olympique Marseille, the Premier League club said on their website (www.cpfc.co.uk) on Tuesday. Mandanda, who has played 24 times for France, joined Palace on a free transfer a year ago and made 10 appearances last season before being sidelined with a knee injury in November. He failed to reclaim the number one spot from Wayne Hennessey. The 32-year-old returns to the Stade Velodrome having spent most of his career in the south of France, where he played 441 games for Marseille in nine seasons after joining from Le Havre Midfielder Arnautovic asks to leave Stoke Stoke City midfielder Marko Arnautovic has put in a request to leave the Premier League side after four seasons, but the final decision rests with the club, manager Mark Hughes said. The Austria international has been a prominent figure at Stoke since 2013, scoring 26 goals and providing 32 assists in more than 100 matches. He signed a new four-year deal last year. But media reports suggest he has been looking for a move - with West Ham the top suitor - since Stoke ended last season 13th in the league. "Marko and his people have put in a transfer request but that happens on occasions. Any comings and goings are at our discretion and it's our decision ultimately," Hughes told Stoke's Sentinel newspaper. "Players can express an opinion or a view in terms of where they see their future but at the end of the day contracted players are contracted to the club and ultimately we have the final say," he added. Stoke finished ninth in the league for three consecutive years, before slipping last season. Striker Solanke completes Liverpool move England youth international striker Dominic Solanke has completed his move to Premier League side Liverpool after his contract with champions Chelsea expired, the Merseyside club have said. The 19-year-old, who was a part of Chelsea's youth academy since 2004, scored four goals during England's under-20 World Cup triumph in June and was named Player of the Tournament. Solanke made just one senior appearance for Chelsea in 2014 and was loaned out to Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem for the 2015-16 campaign. Liverpool did not specify the length of Solanke's contract or the fee for the teenager. "It feels amazing and everyone has made me feel welcome already," Solanke told the club's website. (www.liverpoolfc.com) "Even just pulling on the training top, I was over the moon. Hopefully I can put on the shirt in the near future and make some good history here." Paulinho must wait for Barcelona move, says Guangzhou chairman Barcelona target Paulinho has been told by his Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande that he will not be allowed to leave until the end of the season. Paulinho helped Guangzhou to their second Asian Champions League crown in 2015 and has won two CSL titles as well as reclaiming his place in the Brazil national team since moving to Evergrande from the English Premier League. Barcelona have reportedly offered 20 million euros ($22.79 million) for the 28-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder. "Regarding Paulinho, there is nothing to discuss until the end of the season," Chinese media quoted Evergrande chairman Xi Jiayin as saying. "We completely understand his feelings, however, we hope he can understand the club's situation. We can't just let a core player go in the middle of a tough season. "It is indeed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Paulinho and there has been lots of attention on it. However, in midseason it is impossible." The CSL wraps up on Nov. 4 but Guangzhou's season could run until Nov. 25 if they reach the Asian Champions League final. PSG set to seal Dani Alves signing Paris Saint-Germain are set to make a statement summer signing by announcing the capture of Brazilian full-back Dani Alves, according to media reports on Tuesday. The French giants have called a press conference for Wednesday afternoon at 4pm local time (1400 GMT) at the Parc des Princes, at which they are expected to unveil the 34-year-old. The Qatar-owned outfit will then jet off to the United States for a pre-season tour. According to Le Parisien, Alves passed a medical in the French capital on Tuesday and will sign a two-year deal with last season's Ligue 1 runners-up. Alves is a free agent after leaving Italian champions Juventus, whom he helped get to last season's Champions League final. He had been expected to team up with his former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, and beating the English side to the Brazilian's signature is a major coup for Paris. PSG's one confirmed close-season signing so far is the Spanish left-back Yuri Berchiche from Real Sociedad for a reported 14 million euros ($16 million, £12.5 million). Hertha sign son of Germany legend Klinsmann The Klinsmann name made a return to the German football league on Tuesday as Hertha Berlin signed the son of former United States coach and Germany striker Juergen Klinsmann. Jonathan Klinsmann, 20, the goalkeeper with the United States Under-20s team, has been given an undisclosed contract after two weeks on trial with the Bundesliga club. Hertha plan to make Klinsmann junior their third-choice goalkeeper, behind Norway's Rune Jarstein and ex-Bayern Munich shotstopper Thomas Kraft, and he will gain experience for the Under-23 team in the regional league. "After breakfast, Michael Preetz (Hertha's sports director) had a chat and said they had decided at short notice to offer a contract," said Klinsmann junior at Hertha's pre-season camp near Berlin. "It was an unbelievably emotional moment for me, because the club has such a family history." "I'm looking forward to everything at the club, the city of Berlin and the challenge of playing in Germany." His father, Jurgen Klinsmann, who enjoyed a glittering career with Bayern Munich, Monaco, Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan, has been a member of Hertha Berlin since 2004, while his grandfather Siegfried was born close to Berlin and was also a Hertha fan.
