European transfer news: Sevilla sign Nolito, Hart set for West Ham medical
Nolito returns to Spain at Sevilla Spain winger Nolito has joined La Liga side Sevilla from Manchester City after failing to settle in England, the Premier League club said on Sunday. Nolito was signed for City by manager Pep Guardiola from Spanish side Celta Vigo last July and made 30 appearances last season, scoring six goals. City announced his departure in a brief statement on their official website (www.mancity.com), but did not disclose the fee they had received for the 30-year-old. Spanish media reported last week that Sevilla had agreed a fee of 10m euros ($11.47m) with City to secure his services. The player said in an interview with a Spanish radio station in June that he wanted to leave City, blaming his struggles to learn English and the weather in Manchester for his desire to return to Spain. "I've learnt very, very little English. It's very hard. Just 'tomorrow', 'good morning', 'good afternoon' and a little more," he had said. "My daughter's face has changed colour - it looks like she's been living in a cave." A statement from the La Liga side said: "Nolito will be a Sevilla player for the next three years, until June 2020. The player arrived in Seville today, underwent a medical and signed his new contract with Sevilla alongside club president Jose Castro at the Sanchez Pizjuan stadium." Sevilla said Nolito would fly out to Japan on Tuesday to meet his new team mates for their pre-season preparations, subject to being granted a visa. Nolito's move to Sevilla sees him reunited with Eduardo Berizzo, his former coach at Celta Vigo who oversaw his two best campaigns between 2014 and 2016, leading to his first call-up for Spain in 2014. Hart braces for West Ham loan Joe Hart is set for a medical on Monday ahead of his planned loan move to West Ham United. Hart is set to join the Hammers on loan from City, although it is understood the Londoners will have an option to buy the England international next summer.

The 30-year-old spent last season on loan with Serie A side Torino, having been deemed surplus to requirements at City following the arrival of manager Guardiola. Romero pens new Man Utd deal Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero has signed a new contract with Manchester United that will keep him at the Europa League holder until 2021, the Premier League club said on Sunday. Romero, understudy to Spain's David de Gea since joining United in 2015, played in the Europa League campaign that ended in a 2-0 victory over Ajax Amsterdam in May. “I am delighted to have signed a new contract. Who wouldn’t want to be at the biggest club in the world?" said Romero, whose deal gives him the option of another season after 2021. "We have great goalkeepers here and we are always learning from each other. Of course, it was a very proud moment for me and my family to be part of the Europa League final, and I am looking forward to helping the team build on last season’s success in 2017/18.” Manager Jose Mourinho praised the 30-year-old as a "great goalkeeper and professional". "He had a good season and outstanding performances, especially in our Europa League success. Sergio deserves his contract, and for Manchester United to have Sergio and David is amazing in such an important role,” said Mourinho. Romero holds a record 88 Argentina caps for a goalkeeper having kept his place in the team he helped reach the 2014 World Cup final despite not holding down the first team place at his last three clubs, including Sampdoria and AS Monaco. United, who came sixth in the Premier League last season, qualified for the Champions League via the Europa League and will be aiming to win the European Cup for the fourth time. Liverpool to Lazio for Lucas Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has arrived in Rome and is expected to complete a £5m move to Lazio on Monday. Lucas is Liverpool's longest serving current player and was signed by the club by former manager Rafa Benitez in a £5m deal from Gremio more than a decade ago. He made 31 appearances in all competitions last season but was largely deployed as a makeshift centre-back by manager Jurgen Klopp. The 30-year-old played no part in Liverpool's pre-season friendly with Wigan on Friday after the club agreed a £5m fee with Lazio. And while Liverpool flew out to Hong Kong on Sunday to take part in the Premier League Asia Trophy, Lucas was making his way to the Italian capital where he was snapped at the airport giving a thumbs up with a Lazio scarf draped over his shoulders. Lucas will undergo a medical on Monday before finalising his move to Lazio, who finished fifth in Serie A last season. Lucas has racked up 247 appearances in 10 seasons at Liverpool, scoring once and contributing 14 assists. Penalty saving specialist Alves leaves Valencia Diego Alves, the Brazilian goalkeeper who has saved more penalties than any other player in the history of La Liga, has ended his decade-long spell in Spain by leaving Valencia to join Brazilian giant Flamengo, the Spanish side said on Sunday. Alves spent his first four years in Spain with Almeria after joining from Atletico Mineiro, keeping out 12 of the 18 spot kicks he faced with the Andalusian outfit before switching to Valencia in 2011 for three million euros ($3.44m). He further cemented his reputation as a penalty-saving specialist by denying Lionel Messi from the spot in the first spot kick he faced as a Valencia player and last season saved two penalties during a defeat to Atletico Madrid, one from Antoine Griezmann and the other from Gabi. Last September Alves, 32, made a record-breaking 17th penalty save in Spain's top flight in a 2-1 win at Leganes, taking him ahead of former Barcelona goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta. He broke another record in April when he denied Cristiano Ronaldo from the spot to accumulate six penalties saved in a season, conceding only three spot kicks over the course of the campaign. In total, he saved 24 of the 50 penalties he faced in La Liga, conceding 24, while two missed the target. Valencia announced his departure in a brief statement on their official website, saying: "Valencia closed a deal with Flamengo on Sunday for the definitive transfer of the rights of goalkeeper Diego Alves to the Brazilian club." According to reports in Spain, Flamengo have signed Alves on a four-year contract for less than 500,000 euros. Biglia joins Milan Another confirmed signing from the continent comes from AC Milan, who have officially signed Lucas Biglia from Lazio after he completed a medical. He has penned a three-year deal at the San Siro. Milan have been on a stunning spending spree this summer and have already signed Andre Silva, Ricardo Rodriguez, Hakan Calhanoglu, Andrea Conti, Mateo Musacchio, Franck Kessie, Fabio Borini and the Juventus great Leonardo Bonucci.
