Five-time professional league champion Dhaka Abahani Limited bought Nigerian striker Sunday Chizoba back to the squad for the second phase of the Bangladesh Premier League, which gets underway Monday.
A total of around 42 transfers, including 11 foreign footballers, were done during the mid-season players' transfer window, which started on October 15 this year and closed Friday. Farashganj Sporting Club applied for highest 10 players' registration while big-budget outfit Saif Sporting Club made six changes, including the most expensive signing of the window, Haitian forward Wedson Anselme.
Sunday was one of the key players of Abahani's title-winning unbeaten campaign last season, scoring a total of 19 goals to become the top-scorer of the premier league. He suffered injury at the end of last season and missed last two vital matches. He couldn't make it to the Abahani squad in the opening half of the season.
Abahani football team manager Satyajit Das Rupu informed that Sunday had been out in the last few months due to injury. But he has now recovered fully and joined the Sky Blues two weeks ago. He also added, "He (Sunday) is ready to play and doing well in practice. Let's see how he does on the pitch. We are hopeful."
Table-topper Chittagong Abahani Limited also bought back their last season's Haitian striker Leonel Saint Preux while Olawale Oladipo made way for Preux and joined Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society, who also signed Dauda Ceesay from Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra. Saif Sporting signed Wedson, Willian Sheringham and four Bangladesh players, including youngster Foysal Ahmed Fahim. Struggling Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra recruited two new foreign booters - Lionel William and Magalan Awala.
Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited roped in two, including Haitian forward Augustin Walson from Brothers Union while striker Ismael Bangoura left them to join Team BJMC. Farashganj's all new signings are local except Ahmed Camara. Arambagh Krira Sangha bought in four while Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited remained unchanged from the first leg of the league.
