
The Marcel Bangladesh Championship League 2017 concluded Saturday with second-placed Nofel Sporting Club and T&T Club playing out a 2-2 draw in the last match at Birsreshtha Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur.
Striker Ariful Islam scored a brace for Nofel in the 37th and 62nd minute and leapfrogged veteran forward Rokonuzzaman Kanchan to become the top-scorer of the second-tier league with a total of 12 goals, including two hat-tricks. Champion Bashundhara Kings’ captain Kanchan scored 11 goals. Sabbir Hossain also netted a brace for T&T Club in the eighth and 77th minute and finished third with nine goals.
The two newly-promoted clubs Bashundhara and Nofel earned 35 and 32 points respectively while Victoria Sporting Club, Fakirerpool YMC, T&T, Uttar Baridhara Club, Bangladesh Police, Feni Soccer Club, Agrani Bank and Kawran Bazar were placed second to 10th respectively. Kawran Bazar are the only relegated side who managed one win out of 18 matches. They however, won the Fair Play trophy.
