Chittagong clinch Veterans Cup Football

Chittagong Sonali Otit Club emerged as the champion in the Veterans Cup Tournament 2018 beating Dhaka Sonali Otit Club Red in the tie-breaker at the artificial turf of the Bangladesh Football Federation House Saturday. The match ended 2-2 after regulation time and later, Chittagong edged Dhaka 4-3 in the penalty shootout. Ferdous Hasan scored both the goals for Chittagong while Mohammad Aslam and Hiru netted for Dhaka. Dhaka forward Aslam was adjudged man of the final for his lively performance, including a trademark goal from a great header. Chittagong’s Ferdous bagged five goals in the tournament and became the top-scorer. Earlier, Chittagong won the semi-final against Dhaka Sonali Otit Club Green 2-1 while Dhaka Red won the second semi-final against Khulna Sonali Otit Club.

The tournament was a memorable occasion for the former and legendary players of Bangladesh. They got together and reminisced about their playing career. In total, 12 teams participated in the tournament. Among them, 11 are Bangladeshi teams while the other is from London, England, known as UK Sonali Otit Club.
