Bangladesh brace for Thailand, Laos tour
Bangladesh football team's long wait for an international match is all set to end next Tuesday when they will take on Laos. The men in red and green last played an international 17 months ago against Bhutan on October 10, 2016 when the former suffered a humiliating 3-1 loss. Prior to their Laos game, Bangladesh will fly off to Bangkok Monday where they will train and take part in two practice matches - against Ratchaburi Mitr Phol Football Club Wednesday and Bangkok Glass Football Club Friday. Bangladesh will then travel to Laos two days later. Ahead of their departure to Thailand's capital, Bangladesh head coach Andrew Ord said he is hopeful of a positive display against Laos, ranked 183rd in the latest Fifa ranking. The men in red and green are ranked 197th.

In a press conference Sunday at BFF House, Ord said, "We prepared well. I am satisfied. We are now waiting for the Laos game. Before that, we will work on our strategies in Thailand. If everything falls into place, we can expect a result in the Laos game. If the defenders, midfielders and forwards do the work in their respective zones then we can hope for a positive outcome." Ord announced a 23-man squad prior to departing for Thailand. Among the 23 members, as many as seven are from Abahani Limited - Shahidul Alam Sohel, Waly Faisal, Nasir Uddin, Mamun Mia, Tutul Hossain Badshah, Saad Uddin and Nabib Newaj. Midfielder Faisal Mahmud also echoed the same sentiment to that of his coach. "Under the new coach, we are trying to create our own identity. There has been a change in our food habit. A lot of work has been done with regards to our defence and attack. We've also worked on set pieces. I hope we can play a good game against Laos," said Faisal. The Laos game will serve as preparation ahead of the Saff Championship, scheduled to be hosted by Bangladesh this year in September. The first national camp for the Saff Championship got underway on February 13. After that, the men in red and green underwent a two-week camp in Qatar. Squad Ashraful Islam Rana, Shahidul Alam, Faisal Mahmud, Mamunul Islam, Jamal Bhuiyan, Mohammad Abdullah, Topu Barman, Jafar Iqbal, Mahbubur Rahman, Towhidul Alam Sabuj, Mamun Mia, Nabib Newaj, Saad Uddin, Rahmat Mia, Masuk Mia, Nasir Uddin, Uttam Kumar, Biplu Ahmed, Ali Hossain, Waly Faisal, Anisur Rahman, Bishwanath Ghosh and Tutul Hossain Badshah
