Brazil football legend Zico is likely to visit Bangladesh after the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia, said the Brazilian Ambassador in Dhaka, Joao Tabajara de Oliveira Junior while introducing three TV Globo journalists at a press conference in the capital Wednesday.
"One of the first names we contacted who might come here after the World Cup is Zico," said Joao Tabajara while talking about bringing sports celebrities to Bangladesh to promote cultural bond with Brazil.
"Zico said he is available after the World Cup and will be pleased to come here. We are working together in a schedule, exactly what we can do. (Thursday) we will be meeting the Ministry of Sports,” he said before adding, “We are just working with the federation to organise the visit and exchange with authorities of football in the country, may be, establishing dialogue and thinking ways of helping to develop football in Bangladesh.”
Joao Tabajara also pledged to provide support to Bangladesh towards the development of football. When queried about the realistic possibility of building football academies with help from Brazil, he said, "First we have to bring professionals like Zico, may be Ronaldinho, and discuss with the federation and ministry. There are only ideas.
"We first have to discuss those ideas to see what the Ministry of Sports have in mind. I talked to very influential person at the federation of football in Brazil. He told me you can have full support. There are great possibilities."
