Bangladesh Olympic (U23) football team began their Asian Games 2018 campaign with a 3-0 defeat against Uzbekistan in the opening Group B encounter at Pakansari Stadium in Bogor, Indonesia on Tuesday.

A more physically and technically better Uzbekistan side was too strong for the junior Men in Red and Green from the very beginning of the game and secured a comfortable victory. They won by the same margin during the last edition four years ago in Incheon.

Uzbekistan captain Urinboev Zabikhillo threatened the Bangladesh defence with his blistering pace and skill and he scored to take the lead in the 23rd minute with a low-header. The first-half ended 1-0.

Midfielder Dostonbek Khamdamov doubled the lead in the 58th minute with a powerful strike from the right-side of the box before Ikromjon sealed the winner in the 66th minute.

Bangladesh will face Thailand in their second group match at the same venue on Thursday.
