Goalkeeper Shahidul Alam has been axed from the Bangladesh squad as BFF announced a 31-member squad Tuesday for the Bangabandhu Gold Cup International Tournament. Alongside the host nation, Palestine, Philippines, Laos, Nepal and Tajikistan will play in the tournament that will be held from October 1- 12.
The matches will be played at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, Sylhet District Stadium and Bir Sreshtha Ruhul Amin Stadium.
Shahidul, who blundered in the final group stage match at the Saff Championship against Nepal, was not in the side, despite as many as four keepers getting selected for the preliminary squad. Host Bangladesh lost against Nepal 2-0 after that awful mistake and had to exit the tournament, despite winning their first two matches against Bhutan and Pakistan.
