Christmas Day was celebrated in a different style among the foreign footballers currently living in Dhaka due to the ongoing Independence Cup and next month’s crucial Bangladesh Premier League.

Some celebrated the big day at their respective clubs, along with undergoing regular training, while a few got vacation, but the case is different for the players and coaches of Wednesday's two finalists.

Bashundhara Kings’ Oscar Bruzon didn’t even have his lunch when he appeared at the pre-final presser at around 2pm.

He only had a cup of tea in front of the BFF House with captain Emon Mahmud.

The Spanish coach was only thinking about the final.

“Whatever happens in the final I will celebrate Christmas from the 27th. I didn’t have my lunch yet. I’m doing nothing special, only focusing on the game,” said Bruzon, who later informed that the whole team will go for a week-long vacation after the final.

Bruzon plans to move to Maldives first before flying to Europe.

“We are coming from the Federation Cup defeat, and we really want to win the trophy together for the club. After the final from the 27th, I’ll start thinking about Christmas and New Year holidays,” said Bruzon.

Bashundhara’s Daniel Colindres, Jorge Gotor Blas and Marcos Vinicius and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra’s Portuguese assistant coach Francisco Jose Bruto Costa and players Alex Rafael, Raphael Odoyin and Alison Udoka are all eagerly looking forward to the final.

Abahani Limited’s Portuguese coach Mario Lamos, Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba and Haitian striker Kervens Belfort joined a practice session in the morning before celebrating the day with a cake at the club premises together, informed manager Satyajit Das Rupu.

Saif Sporting Club gave vacation to their Irish coach Jonathan McKinstry and the whole squad, until the first day of January.

McKinstry left the country Monday night to celebrate Christmas with the family at home, informed team manager Mahbubur Rahman Sumon.
