Bangladesh’s star footballer Jamal Bhuiyan has made sure he is staying in his current team Saif Sporting Club for the next year as well. The club has renewed their contract with the Denmark-born Bangladesh national team player and it was learnt that the midfielder will receive more than 60 lac taka for renewing the contract.

Jamal’s contract with the cash-rich club was supposed to finish this year but the club decided to extend it as their number six made good impact for them.

On Tuesday, Saif’s official facebook page stated, “Saif Sporting Club is informing with joy, that they have renewed the contract with their club’s and national team captain Jamal Bhuiyan for 2019-20 football season.’

The managing director of Saif, Nasiruddin Chowdhury confirmed the news.

“We have renewed our contract with Jamal. He will get more than 60 lac taka as wage,’ said Nasir to Dhaka Tribune.

"We have majority of the players in the squad who are aged below 20. We want to make Jamal a role model to the young talented players so they can learn many things on and off the pitch,” he added.

Jamal was a happy man to become the club's highest paid player once again. "I'm excited with the new contract. I'm thankful to the club for honouring me with a better deal than last time."

"There are lots of young players in Saif Sporting and I always enjoy working with them. They will get more mature next season and hopefully the club also signs better foreign players so that we can do better next season,’ said the footballer, who will leave Dhaka for Denmark on August 2 and expected to return at the end of the month before the national team training camp starts ahead of World Cup qualifier.

Jamal, the 29-year old holding midfielder joined Saif back in 2016-17 and got the captain’s armband of Bangladesh national team while playing for the club. He started his career in Denmark and caught eyes as a young talent. But Jamal decided to play for Bangladesh, the country of his parents, who migrated back in 60s, and made his international debut in 2013.

By playing for Bangladesh against Nepal on 31 August, 2013, in SAFF Championship he became the first non-resident player to represent the red-green flag in international arena.

He ascended in the national ranks with immense success and proved himself as an important member. He scored some crucial goals and also regarded as the key player for the side in many tournaments.

He started his domestic career here by signing for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in 2014-15 and helped his side secure league title in debut season. After playing two seasons for the Dhanmondi-based club, he joined Saif .
