Terengganu netted as many as nine goals during their two wins against Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara Kings and I-League champions Chennai City FC in the group of death
Terengganu FC, the team with the best scoring record in the tournament so far, will be favourites against Mohun Bagan AC when the two sides take on each other in the second semifinal of the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup 2019 at M A Aziz Stadium in Chattogram Tuesday at 7pm.
Terengganu netted as many as nine goals during their two wins against Bangladesh Premier League champions Bashundhara Kings and I-League champions Chennai City FC in the group of death while the other against Sree Gokulam Kerala FC ended goalless as the Malaysian outfits finished as Group B champions.
Mohun Bagan, on the other hand, started the campaign with a defeat against Young Elephants of Laos before beating the TC Sports Club and hosts Chittagong Abahani in their next two games.
“Our first target was to reach the final,” said Terengganu head coach Nafuzi Zain. He added, “It will not be easy against Mohun Bagan which is a very physical team, but I believe if my players, with more technical ability, can do what they have done in the three games, we will be in the final.”
Two of the oldest clubs in Asia, @Mohun_Bagan and East Bengal FC, were once filled up with Bengali people as the latter were formed with the footballers only from East Bengal, now Bangladesh.https://t.co/DCLRuG1kuR#EASTBENGAL #MOHUNBAGAN #EAST #BENGAL #MOHUN #BAGAN #BENGALIS

Mohun Bagan’s Spanish head coach Kibu Vicuna said ahead of their toughest challenge, “We are playing better every day. We are going to prepare as well as possible. We are trying to play a good match and advance to the final.”
Vicuna particularly mentioned Terengganu’s English attacking midfielder Lee Tuck and Japanese striker Bruno Suzuki who can make the difference today. Bruno scored four goals against Chennai City while Tuck scored a hat-trick against Bashundhara Kings.
Captain Lee Tuck urged his side to improve their defending since they have conceded five goals in the group stages. “We've got to keep focused, play the way we are playing, improve from the last game and keep playing creative football. Trying to score as many goals as possible and also defend a little bit better so that we don't concede as many goals as we did before.”
This is the first time Terengganu and Mohun Bagan are taking part in this tournament.
