The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has issued legal notice against the offenders with false propaganda and trolls on social media for downplaying the image of country’s football governing body.

The notice, issued by Supreme Court Advocate and BFF’s legal advisor M H Tanvir, is intended toward the social media users- persons, responsible organisations and institutions -who are publishing and spreading false defamatory information against BFF.

It urged the social media users to show respect to the laws ahead of the BFF Elective Congress 2020, scheduled on 3 October, which will form the next executive committee of the federation.

A facebook post titled BFF Election 2020 published from the verified facebook page of BFF on 8 September was mentioned in the notice. The post yielded thousands of negative comments against BFF. The notice said that those false, defamatory, vulgar and baseless comments are not only influencing the election but also defaming the BFF’s image internationally. Similar types of comments regarding BFF were also found on official facebook page of Fifa.

According to the Digital Security Act 2018, the legal actions will be taken against those who publish or encourage false, bad-mannered, intentional, defamatory, aggressive post, statement and video message on social media after circulation of the legal notice from Sunday.
