The left back suffered a cruel twist of fate after getting injured and ruled out for the rest of the tournament, but not before shining brightly in the first half of Euro 2020, linking up brilliantly with Insigne down the left flank.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfield engine kept Denmark going, protecting the back four, as the Danes scripted a fairytale run to the semis, after being inflicted with the worst shock possible through the cardiac arrest of teammate Eriksen on the field.

Locatelli made way for Verratti but Jorginho was a constant presence in Italy's midfield with his tireless runs, relentless passing, and in the space of a few months lifted both the major honors in club and country football.

The 18-year old Barcelona youngster was one of the finds of the tournament, and even compared with the great Iniesta owing to his passing masterclass, as he literally passed the opposition to oblivion.

The Czech marksman struck five times in the Euro 2020, narrowly losing out on the Golden Boot award to top-scorer Ronaldo by an assist, to lead his team to the last eight.

There were strong murmurs that the Man City winger would be named player of the tournament if England had beaten Italy, but despite losing out to Donnarumma the fleet-footed attacker stood out among his teammates with his forward runs and goal involvements.

Pique's player of the tournament, a premature substitution in the final due to injury failed to dampen the mood around Chiesa, who was a breath of fresh air for the Italians with his attacking displays either through the wings or central midfield.
